Automatic Opt-Out Message for SMS

Coming by July 1st!

smrtPhone is introducing an Automatic Opt-Out Message feature for SMS to enhance text compliance and help businesses adhere to carrier guidelines.

  • The feature automatically appends opt-out language to outgoing texts, including the company name and instructions on how to opt out (The text we add says: Message sent by {Brand Profile Company Name}. To opt out from texts reply with “STOP”). This information is crucial for compliance and must be sent the first time you text a phone number or every 30 days after the original message was sent.

Note: For clients who use their CRM or other methods to append their SMS for compliance, we will have an option for them to opt out of the automated SMS footer.

  • By implementing this, smrtPhone aims to improve text compliance, deliverability, and reduce filtering. The automatic opt-out message will help businesses avoid violations and throttling by carriers. Plus, it’s all taken care of for you - no need to program extra automations into your CRM!
  • smrtPhone will introduce a new Do Not Text (DNT) list, accessible from the Admin menu, where contacts who opt out are automatically added. You can also manually add numbers to this list. Note that numbers on the DNT list cannot be removed, but contacts can opt in again by texting “START”, “YES”, or “UNSTOP”. Please note that the Do Not Text (DNT) list only restricts texting, while the Do Not Call (DNC) list restricts both texting and calling.
